A quick hello and a blood test question
Hi,
I just joined today, this is a brief summary - my husband was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in July 2007 and has just had his 12 month check up which was all clear. Although we weren't worried about getting the results as we both thought he would be fine the weight that was lifted was enormous! I can't believe that he still had one chemo to go last year and we have finally got this far! His brother is also in remission from non-Hodkins Lymphoma (he was diagnosed in November 2006 - same cancer, tumor in the same place, same stage, same type - not genetically linked, apparently!!).
Anyway, sorry to ramble! Matt's blood work was fine today except that his protein level was a little high - does anyone know why this might be??
Thanks, Sally

Good to know things are going well for your OH Sally. I hope for similar news myself, as a fellow NHL sufferer. As to protein levels, my only understanding of these is that the docs look for protein markers in the blood which can indicate the need for further investigation - the higher these are in value then the more concerns are raised. HOWEVER, I'd strongly urge you to get some informed advice on this from your haematologist as to whether it's at all significant. I guess if they'd be an issue on this occasion then it would have been explained to you at the time. As it is, it sounds as if you're on a clear run!
Anyway, keep up the good fight!
Andrew
